* Dolphin Swim

Well I know this doesn’t have much to do with the store, but I couldn’t resist showing you all pics from our swim with the dolphins on our recent trip to the Bahamas. We got to dance, hug and kiss “Princess” and “Aunty V”. Princess loved to spit in Mike’s face, fun for her…not so fun for him.

Family portrait

Princess wildin’ out!

True dolphin love.

* Hey DJ by Malcolm McLaren

Per Wikipedia, Malcolm McLaren (born Malcolm Robert Andrew Edwards on 22 January 1946 in London) is an English entrepreneur and musician who is best known as being the manager of the punk rock band Sex Pistols.

That, and together with the “World’s Famous Supreme Team,” he crafted what is surely one of the greatest old-school songs of all time. This video for “Hey DJ” is absolutely stunning. It’s so heavy on 80s nostalgia that it could have been filmed last week. Awesome.

* Up on the Roof by Sonny Aronson

Up on the Roof

12/5/08
Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival presents two evenings of films about Brooklyn
at the Brooklyn Historical Society
128 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights.
The 2 and a half hour film blocks begin on Thursday (the 4th) and Friday (the 5th) at 6pm. “Up on the Roof” will conclude Friday’s night’s film block. Tickets are $5.
Www.brooklynhistory.org

SYNOPSIS
Up on the Roof follows several devoted pigeon breeders in Williamsburg, Brooklyn through the rigors and rewards of a quintessential New York tradition. All along the waterfront, and throughout blue collar Brooklyn, pigeon fancying has been an active pastime for generations, handed down from one group of residents to the next, and Williamsburg has long been the center of the action. But as with so many once blighted and now hip districts throughout the world, Brooklyn‹-and Williamsburg in particular‹-is being scrubbed of its old world character to make way for a new urbanism. This colorful, urban-wildlife doc considers what we lose in the process of urban renewal and treats the audience like an insider in an unseen and in many ways vanishing world.

* Introducing Bailey Hats

Bailey of Hollywood Hats
Bailey began producing fine dress headwear in 1922, priding itself on founder George Bailey’s emphasis on the importance of a professionally crafted hat. Classic styles such as fedoras, godfathers and derby’s were engineered and popularized by Bailey in the 1920’s. These handsome hats were seen on silver screen icons like Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart.

Bailey Hats are known for the craftsmanship of their product. Handmade in the USA (Pennsylvania) or Italy, each piece is individually assembled for excellent durability and timeless sophistication.  We’re proud to be one of their dealers.

Although these hats are designed for men, they look pretty fierce on girls too!

Bailey “Virgil” Crushable Wool Fedora: $47
Bailey “Hamman” Stingy Fedora: $55
Bailey “Lord” Driving Hat in Brown Herringbone: $42
Bailey “Lord” Driving Hat in Black: $42
